MAP Sponsors are pastors, church leaders, district leaders and supervisors who are committed to maximizing the efforts and scope of planting teams and harvest in their region. These men and women are dedicated to the mission of raising up leaders and planting many more healthy reproducing churches that will introduce lots of people to Jesus.
You will be glad to learn that as a sponsor, you are not expected to be the "church planting guru" nor the solver of all problems. The primary purpose of a MAP Sponsor is to provide ongoing relational support to the church planter and his or her family. Remember, your role as sponsor is primarily to "draw out" from the planter the things God has placed in him or her. You are a sponsor first, a mentor only secondarily. Above all else, please pray with and for your church planter
MAP Sponsor Report:
The MAP Sponsor Report is a report that is to be filled out monthly by a church planter's sponsor. This report helps inform leaders about the health of church plants and planters in their district. Sponsors, be sure to fill out the report with detailed comments. These completed reports are meant to help the district office see what is going on with a church planter. If you do not leave any comments, the report is then not informative. But, a good report helps in the follow ways:
- Helps the sponsor and the planter see clearly things that need to be addressed in their next meeting.
- Gives the district supervisor and district missional coordinator adequate information to be of greater help to the planter.
- Provides the national church multiplication office with direction in developing training materials, articles, etc. that will assist the planter and the sponsor.
- Gives everyone the ability to look back and assess progress, areas where further training is needed and make an adjustments as needed.
- Allows everyone the opportunity to celebrate, on an on-going basis, the planter's progress in fulfilling their God-given vision
