Our Process

Recruitment: Do you have what it takes to be a successful church planter? If you are a person who loves to hang out with the unchurched, enjoys training and equipping people to serve the Lord, and feels called by God to plant a church, you have what it takes. The following resources are designed to help you cast vision for church planting, develop skills, and help you discover if you have what it takes to be a church planter.

Assessment/Selection: This process guides you in planting a church and shows areas you, as a church planter, need to work on. The skills evaluated in potential church planters include: reaching people, resourcing a plant, resolving conflict, stable marriage (if applicable), vision implementation, communication skills, and courageous faith. Resources to help with this include:

• Church Planter Application
• Parent church/sponsor church recommendation
• Assessment by a district team using a behavioral interview process.

Training: The Church Planters Intensive (CPI) uses discovery learning for a church planter to unlock the mission, vision and values in the planter's heart as they engage with their ministry and the people they serve. This helps planters prepare for the public launch of their church and its first year of life. This training is provided for all first time planters in Foursquare:

• District orientation—organizational procedures

Coaching: Each church planter has the benefit of a coach to walk with them through the first 18 months of their church plant. This coach is committed to drawing out of the planter what God placed in them so they will reach their full potential. In order for this to happen, the coach must be willing to ask the planter the hard questions no one else wants to ask. Foursquare has created a coaching structure to train up good, quality coaches. This structure includes:

• Three levels of coach training.
• An online coaching report filled out monthly by the coach, regarding the planter, which is sent to the district office to keep them up-to-date on their planter.
• A monetary compensation to invest in the planter-coach relationship.

Parenting Pastors: When a church plant is parented, rather than planted independently, it starts off with a great advantage. Healthy parenting requires great sacrifice on the part of parenting, but produces great results. This healthy parenting includes:

• Preparing leaders.
• Praying for the church plant and its team.
• Sending people with the church plant to assist
• Invest money, resources or supplies.
• Ongoing mentoring of the church planter.

Leadership Development: Networking emerging leaders with other leaders and resources helps to develop leadership skills in those emerging leaders. We seek to resource both prospective planters and emerging leaders in this fashion. The following are resources to help with this:

Organizational Procedures: There is a lot that goes into planting a church. We want to equip you for this adventure to the best of our ability. The following are areas in which we equip church planters:

• Church Planter's Proposal—This proposal describes a church plant's values, vision and mission as well as the resources and budget needed to get the church off the ground.
• Administrative Toolkit—This toolkit walks the new church planter through such key administrative tasks as writing your church plant proposal, obtaining an EIN number and opening bank accounts.
• Funding—Foursquare offers an allowance to each church plant which is determined by each district supervisor in response to the church planter's proposal. Our planters are encouraged to pursue bi-vocational planting in at least the initial stages of the new church to enable them to network more effectively with pre-Christians in the community they are called to and to allow them to sufficiently provide for the needs of their household.
